New York and New England Top Football Prospects

New York & New England

Quarterbacks
•••+ John Kinder 6-3, 190, 4.7 Cedarhurst Lawrence, NY
He is a good all-around QB.
On Film–He shows that he can beat you with his arm strength and with his feet. He consistently proves that he can throw the ball from the pocket but also shows he can use his quickness, agility, and burst to avoid sacks. He can get rid of the ball quickly, is devastating when throwing the ball on the run, and is as accurate as they come with pretty good arm strength. He also shows the ability to hit receivers deep.
Stats–He earned some All-League honors for his play at QB.
Grades–His GPA is over 3.0.
Favorite Schools–Committed to SYRACUSE.

•••+ Scott McCummings 6-2, 210, 4.7 Natick, MA
Keep an eye on this guy; he certainly has the ability to become a superstar at the next level.
On Film–He can throw the ball 80 yds and sometimes knocks his receivers over with his hard throws. A tough kid who will do whatever it takes to win, he has a quick setup in the pocket. He plays in a spread offense and although he's not a blazer, he can get the job done with his legs when called upon to do so. He's a much better athlete than most people give him credit for. A big, thick kid, he has a great future.

Running Backs
••••+ Silas Redd 5-10, 187, 4.45 Stamford King, CT
One of the top two prospects in the state.
On Film–I was able to watch Silas run down in San Antonio and was really impressed with his vision, balance, and surprising strength. He's an elusive back who is hard to grab with great, great vision. He can cut on a dime, has very strong legs, and is a scrappy competitor who does not go down with the first hit. He can lower his pads and make defenders pay for the tackle. Should weigh over 200 pounds once he gets to college and has the kind of durability the college scouts are looking for. An added plus is his ability to play CB. He's a competitive DB who is dynamite when the ball is in the air. He shows the athleticism needed to play the position in college. Has quick feet and a compact and smooth backpedal.
Stats–Carried the ball 120 times for 1,356 yds and 15 TDs averaging 11 yds per carry and he did not fumble all season. On defense he totaled 42 tackles and 2 picks at CB.
Grades–His GPA is 3.2. Benches 290 and has a 37" VJ.
Favorite Schools–Committed to PENN STATE.

••• Jeremiah Kobena 6-0, 180, 4.5 Bronx Cardinal Hayes, NY
He came out of nowhere like most kids in New York City or the Bronx do. There have been a good number of them that have made it over the past ten years but most people feel Jeremiah will be the next.
On Film–He is a power back who runs through arm tackles and does a good job of making the first tackler miss, and then powering his way for extra yardage. He can run, block, and catch. Shows Division I speed and also shows that he has enough quickness and burst to cause damage outside.
Stats–Averaged over 7 yds per carry in '08.
Favorite Schools–Committed to SYRACUSE.

••• Steve Rene 5-8, 175, 4.5 Brooklyn Canarsie, NY
A small but explosive back.
On Film–He proves to be the best athlete at the school. He shows a quick burst, balance, and strength. Despite his lack of great size, he does a good job of finishing off his runs and has the burst and speed to take it outside. He also has breakaway speed. He could wind up playing RB, WR, or CB at the next level. Ranks as one of the two best prospects in Brooklyn.
Stats–Earned All-Brooklyn honors for his play at RB.
Favorite Schools–Committed to SYRACUSE.

••• Anthony Knight 6-1, 210, 4.55 Westwood Xaverian Bros., MA
He's the cousin of Boston College's all-time rusher Derrik Knight.
On Film–Anthony is a plugger who keeps his pads low, fights for every yard, a very strong runner between the tackles, and gets a significant amount of yardage after initial contact. Not a blazer but he has workable speed, shows good hands, can make sharp cuts, and shows a pretty good burst through the holes.
Stats–Earned All-Boston Area honors for his play at RB.
Grades–His GPA is
Favorite Schools–BC, SYRACUSE, OR, MD, and PITT.

••• Greg Bell 5-10, 210, 4.6 Liverpool, NY

On Film–He's a very strong runner who easily breaks tackles, he shows pretty good moves, surprising speed, and very good vision.

Future All-American
Shaquan Coles 5-10, 155, 4.5 Staten Island Curtis, NY
Staten Island has not produced an awful lot of Division I players over the last couple of years, but perhaps the drought will be over for the 2011 class when Shaq is a senior.
On Film–He's exceptionally elusive, a quick and darting type of back with very good vision, and he knows how to find the hole. Needs to work on the weights and add about 30 pounds but that should come by the time he's finished with his senior season.
Stats–Had 35 carries for 395 yds and 5 TDs. He also caught 8 passes for 187 yds and 2 TDs.
Other Sports–He's been timed in a 10.9 100, a 23.5 200 meters, and has long jumped 21' 3" in track.

The #1 prospect in the state of Massachusetts and one of the nation's finest TE's.
On Film–Blake runs much better than most people would give him credit for. He looks like a natural catching the ball and is a highly competitive TE who runs disciplined routes, can catch the high pass in traffic, and does a great job of protecting the ball from a defender. Grades–His GPA is 3.5.
Favorite Schools–Committed to STANFORD.

•••+ Tebucky Jones 6-3, 185, 4.5 New Britain, CT
I must admit I did not see Tebucky on film or in person but he was recommended to be by one of my Connecticut contacts. He is a tall, athletic WR who runs well, can catch the ball in stride, and has proven to be a difficult tackle.
Stats–Caught 33 passes for 536 yds and 6 TDs averaging around 16 yds per catch. His father played in the NFL.
Favorite Schools–BC, UCONN, SYRACUSE, PENN STATE, and UCLA.

•••+ Sean Fitzpatrick 6-6, 220, 4.7 Pittsford-Mendon
He had been recommended to me by a couple of coaches during my trip through New York this spring. One coach said he is just growing into his body and once he does, look out.
On Film–He shows exceptionally strong hands, good running skill, quickness off the ball, runs precise routes, and does a good job of running with the ball after the catch. Tough to bring down, he shows very good open field moves. Needs to add weight and strength and once he does, look out. He has five-star potential.
Stats–Caught 21 passes for 312 yds and 3 TDs on his way to earning All-County and some All-State mention.
Grades–His GPA is 2.9.
Favorite Schools–Committed to MARYLAND.

•••+ Stephan Alli 6-5, 205, 4.5 Andover Proctor Academy, NH
To my embarrassment I did not stop in Andover during my trip through southern New Hampshire on my way to Boston this year. If I had I would have seen a couple of blue chip prospects with Stephan being one of them.
On Film–He's a tall, athletic WR who is just now starting to come into his own. This spring college scouts started paying a lot of attention to Mr. Alli who thought he was more of a basketball player until 2008. He's tall, athletic with strong hands, good leaping ability, he can catch the ball and tuck it away quickly, and is a load for any safety to bring down. He catches everything within reach and shocks defenders with his burst after the catch. Has the potential to someday play on Sundays.
Grades–His GPA is 3.7. Has a 35" VJ and benches 240.
Favorite Schools–Committed to FLORIDA.

•••+ Alex Amidon 5-11, 180, 4.4 Lakeville Hotchkiss, CT

Other Sports–He's a standout guard in basketball and runs the sprints in track.
Grades–His GPA is over a 2.5.

His coach says he's improving every year.
On Film–You don't have to prove too much when you're already 6-7, 290 and can move your feet, and that's exactly what Shawn can do. He's a force on both sides of the ball. He really improved during his junior campaign and big things are expected of him this year. Blessed with long arms, long legs, and a great frame, he could weigh 320 in college. He is already dedicated to the weight room and also proved to be a very reliable tackle on defense.

You've got to list a guy whose 6-8, 330.
